TraffWeb displays information on road traffic collisions, safety cameras, and the functional route hierarchy for Essex.
Essex County Council is not responsible for dealing with collisions which occur on the Trunk Road network. In Essex, the A12, A120, M11, and M25 are managed by agents on behalf of The Highways Agency:

This page contains no information on incidents which result in vehicle damage but no injuries. Functional Route Hierarchy

In 2005, Essex County Council published its Traffic Management Strategy which included the Functional Route Hierarchy for Essex. This is a way of dividing up the roads by the type and volume of traffic using the road. This information is then used as the basis for other policies (such as the Speed Management Strategy) and to help Essex County Council manage the road network. The network is divided into County Routes (A and B Roads and some major unclassified roads) and Local Roads.

How to Use This Site

• Information of interest may be toggled on/off using the Features menu.
• Features are set to appear at specific scales only. Items which are greyed out on the Features menu cannot be shown on the current map and you will need to zoom in or out to see them.
• The Find Street Toolbar uses the NSG streets gazetteer. Enter a street name or a postcode.
• Zoom in and out using the scale bar on the map or by using the mouse wheel. Reposition the map by holding down the left mouse button and moving the mouse.
• Hover the cursor over a feature to display key information.
• Use the Date Range Toolbar to modify the collisions displayed on the map. Collision data is available on this page for the period between
